Nathan "Nate" Goldberg, 88, of Homecroft Court, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997, in St. Mary's Hospital, Superior.

He was born May 27, 1909, in Boston. He was owner and operator of the Commercial Tavern in Superior for over 20 years. He was an avid fisherman and reader. He was a former member of Temple Beth El of Superior.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Anna Goldberg; his first wife, Hilda, died in 1948; and two brothers, Harry and Leo, both died in 1991.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; a son, Harvey (Alice) Goldberg of Atlanta; a daughter, Marlene Helparin of Wilmette, Ill.; four grandchildren; a brother, Bernard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Sophie Salnick of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; and three nieces and five nephews.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday in Downs Funeral Home. Burial in Superior Hebrew Cemetery.
